I interviewed for Software Engineer with a normal-looking schedule, but the process ended abruptly after an inappropriate compensation request.

Virtual + in-person rounds — I did one virtual interview and one face-to-face conversation at the Colombo office.
Compensation information request — after the interview, I was asked for my previous salary paperwork and pay details.
Rejection after refusal — I refused to share that information and was dropped from consideration. Outcome: I didn’t move forward; my takeaway was that the experience became unprofessional and wasted time after that request.
