Recruiting reached out and the early conversations felt a little too transactional for me.

The recruiter interview moved quickly, but I kept sensing that the tone was more about checking boxes than understanding how I’d actually perform in the role.

As soon as I reviewed the base pay details, I realized the compensation didn’t have the cushion I expected relative to the expectations they were describing for the position. Because of that mismatch, I withdrew before getting to a third round.

No offer came out of it, but what I remember most was how clearly the money and the expectations clashed, and how quickly that made the rest of the process feel not worth continuing.
