xAI Software Engineer interview experience

I remember the problem itself was reasonable—implementing something to return an n-by-m array—but the function signature was defined in a way that didn’t match the shape of the data they were asking for. The signature used a jagged array type, even though the task description implied a rectangular n × m structure.

In C#, that mismatch matters: converting between a jagged array and a true rectangular array isn’t straightforward or idiomatic, and it pulled my attention away from the main algorithmic goal. I tried to give feedback afterward because the confusion felt avoidable, reaching out
