I had a phone interview with an engineer, and it started immediately with technical questions rather than any long setup.

The questions spanned several different areas—programming fundamentals like data structures, probability, and Linux came up, and it felt like they were probing breadth as much as depth.

Even though it was only a phone call, it still felt like a real technical screen, with the conversation moving quickly between topics. I didn’t get an offer, but the experience was at least consistent: it clearly focused on engineering fundamentals across multiple domains.
