A recruiter invited me to a first phone screening with an engineer, and the conversation was a mix of discussion about my experience and views on different topics, plus a small technical task.

The task involved using a FastAPI REST API: I needed to make requests to an endpoint, retrieve data, and then process it. It felt pretty trivial overall, and the interviewer was pleasant.

I got the work done and felt good about the interaction, but I was rejected about two weeks later with no feedback at all. Honestly it felt terrible and like a complete waste of time—especially because there wasn’t even a clear explanation after the effort.
