I only made it as far as an automated HackerRank-style assessment, and it felt like a poor fit for what I’m actually good at.

The test was timed and included both coding plus “behavioral-tech” questions, and the non-coding questions were written in a way that didn’t feel developer-like. The coding prompt itself was stock-pairs trading themed and still felt a bit disconnected from the trading/engineering background I had.

I strongly believed my coding solution was correct—I even verified the behavior using print/debug output locally—but the platform still said the tests weren’t passing. That mismatch was the most frustrating part: I had confidence in the logic, yet the automated checks rejected me anyway.
