Waymo Software Engineer interview experience

San Francisco, CAPosted Aug 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had a pretty straightforward, but challenging, technical path at Waymo.

After the initial recruiter interaction, my interviews leaned heavily into coding practice, and the LeetCode-style questions ranged from medium up to hard. The format felt standard—talk through your approach, implement, and push toward a working solution under time pressure.

Even though I didn’t end up getting an offer, the overall vibe stayed positive. The interviewers and the team around me were genuinely nice, and I got a lot of thoughtful follow-up afterward. It left me feeling like the experience wasn’t sour—more like I just didn’t clear the technical bar this time.
