Saint Louis, MOPosted Feb 2010 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had two telephone conversations with different professors focused on my research interests and their programs.

Both calls felt very friendly and casual, and they centered on how my interests aligned with what they were doing.

A short time after the phone calls, I received an email indicating that I was likely going to be admitted to the program. That message came weeks before the official university notice, which surprised me because it made the process feel faster and more transparent than I expected.

I didn’t receive an offer, but the experience itself felt smooth and encouraging. The fact that I got an early signal from the professors made me feel like my fit was being taken seriously.
