Walmart Software Engineer interview experience

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

For Walmart, I went through an on-site loop for a staff engineer position.

The structure included a system design round and also a software design round, which made the day feel very architecture-focused rather than just coding or team-fit.

That mix changed the tone of everything for me. I wasn’t just explaining how I’d implement something—I had to think through design tradeoffs at a deeper level. Overall, it felt like a serious, senior-level evaluation designed to measure how I reason about larger systems.
