I went into a technical interview with a mid-level difficulty and a clear emphasis on backend engineering.

The topics covered Java basics and SOLID principles, then moved into design patterns and the Spring framework, including microservices concepts. I also discussed messaging and integrations, including message queues, and we covered SOAP and REST ideas. On top of that, the questions included databases and cloud-related aspects.

The interview felt like it was testing both understanding and how all those pieces fit together in real development. I didn’t receive an offer, but it was obvious what the bar was: confident, cross-topic backend knowledge rather than isolated memorized answers.
