I ran into a major format mismatch late in the process, which made me step away even though I was expecting a non-technical second round.

HR-to-hiring manager sequence (format promised non-technical) — I repeatedly asked to confirm the second-round format and was told it would be non-technical.
Late and technical change — the hiring manager arrived late and immediately started a technical assessment; since it didn’t match what was promised, I declined. Outcome: I didn’t proceed; the takeaway was that clear alignment between recruiters and hiring managers is essential, or candidates lose trust fast.
