My interview was a Zoom call with two lab members, and it had an unusual dynamic that threw me off at first.

One interviewer came across as very interested and engaged, while the other asked a steady stream of questions. It felt like a good-cop, bad-cop setup, and I could feel the contrast in tone throughout the call.

What made it more frustrating was the way the process dragged emotionally afterward. I had sought out the opportunity by emailing the PI, and once it was arranged, it felt like I was strung along without a real reason.

I didn’t receive an offer. The biggest lasting impression was the combination of the mixed interview energy and the lack of clarity after the call.
