My interview with the PI was pretty straightforward and comfortable.

She focused on my previous experience and specific projects, and then we talked about what I would need to prepare for the experiments—down to the kinds of details I’d be expected to handle.

The interview didn’t turn into a multi-round ordeal. There was no second time interview, and I ended up receiving an offer in about a week. It felt like the conversation was productive and calm, and I left with the sense that they already had a clear idea of what they needed from me.
