My interview was short and very direct.

It was with the PI and a colleague, and it lasted roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Most of what we covered were classic interview questions—why I applied, what I thought about academia, and even prompts like where I saw myself in five years.

There was just one technical question tied to a cell culture technique from my master’s project. Aside from that, the discussion stayed broad and exploratory, which made the interview feel more like assessing my readiness to fit into the environment than testing me on a deep technical exam.

I didn’t receive an offer, but the overall experience was manageable.
