I had an initial call with a recruiter where she walked me through the process and said I’d get an email with a HackerRank test and a couple of days to finish it.

I completed the assessment, and a few hours after I wrapped it up, I received an email telling me the position had already been closed a couple of days earlier.

It was hard not to feel blindsided. The steps they described sounded normal and time-bounded, but the outcome suggested my work didn’t line up with an active role.

I didn’t get an offer, and honestly the biggest surprise was the timing—there was no meaningful follow-through after the OA, just a quick closure message.
