Uber Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Jun 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I was preparing for an Uber SWE II onsite round called “Depth in Specialization (Coding 2).” The overall focus sounded like backend work where they’d push for deeper technical range rather than surface-level coding.

From the preparation notes I had, the round was expected to include a pure DSA problem and a pure LLD problem. It also suggested topics like implementing something from scratch, modifying an existing codebase, and discussing how to take the right engineering approach for the given backend scenario.

I didn’t include any results from this because what I had shared was mostly the setup and expected structure of the round. Still, it was useful context for understanding how they might separate deep algorithmic work from more implementation-heavy design thinking.
