I was given a three-hour coding challenge with two questions where I could choose my language, including R, Python, or C/C++.

The test focused on writing an efficient function and also included a data analysis component. It also required writing computationally efficient code, which made it more than just correctness.

The whole challenge felt like it was meant to measure how I think under time pressure and whether I can translate analysis tasks into performant implementations. I didn’t end up with an offer, but the experience was clear and structured: two problems, one timeboxed session, and an expectation of efficiency.
