Seattle, WAPosted Mar 2021 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I interviewed for Software Engineer at Twitch with a design-focused technical round where the main challenge was building an autocomplete/search ranking system.

Technical design interview — I was asked to design a search autocomplete system: users type a sentence ending with a special character, and for each typed character the system should return the top 3 historical “hot” sentences matching the current prefix, with clear rules. Outcome: No offer; the takeaway is that the role emphasized system-design style reasoning for search/autocomplete behavior.
