My first round combined technical and behavioral questions, and it was with team managers in Chinese.

The technical part was anchored to a project I’d previously completed, so it wasn’t abstract—it was tied to my own work.

For the second round, it shifted to a more behavioral-focused conversation with HR, still in Chinese. The overall feel was that they wanted to understand both what I had done before and how I’d explain myself and collaborate, even if I had to navigate the language side.

I didn’t progress to an offer. Still, the sequence felt deliberate: project-based technical discussion first, then HR-focused behavioral alignment right after.
