I applied online for an internship while I was studying abroad in Germany, and I got an invitation by email for an interview.

I met with the manager of the department and another engineer, and the discussion focused on basics—my qualifications and what showed up on my resume.

One detail mattered a lot: the interview was in German, and I wasn’t a native speaker. Still, they were understanding about it because they hire a lot of international students, and that reduced the pressure on my side. It felt like they were more focused on communication and fit than on perfection. I didn’t receive an offer, but the experience was handled with empathy and was easier than I expected given the language constraint.
