I went through what looked like a straightforward path—first a recruiter call, then an interview with a director—but the tone is what stuck with me.

The recruiter screen was more in depth than I expected and ended up feeling positive and enthusiastic; she even sent a bunch of information before the next meeting. By the time I got to the director conversation, the mood had shifted.

In that later round, I felt spoken to in a condescending way. I was told I didn’t have the right experience, even though I had several years in sales, and the feedback landed more like dismissal than guidance. In my case, the call also had a “good cop, bad cop” dynamic, with two executives both weighing in—one side more supportive, the other side more pointed.
