My interview path moved from an intro call into additional rounds, and it ultimately included an onsite with a larger panel—about five or six different people in the mix.

The overall difficulty felt average, and I was expecting more technical grilling, but the questions weren’t as technical as I thought they’d be.

Even so, I still needed to be able to do the basics under pressure, and the conversation included expectations like being able to handle a paper LBO. What stood out most was the focus on fit. A lot of the discussion circled around why I was interested in the role and how my background matched the firm’s working style, more than deep dives into technical minutiae.
