College Station, TXPosted Jul 2015 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I was interviewed by one of the professors who led the research project.

The conversation was brief but practical: they asked about my previous experience and we also talked about a wage range.

What helped me was that I was able to negotiate toward an hourly wage that felt acceptable based on what I had earned before. It didn’t feel like they were trying to trap me in a low number—they were trying to land on something workable.

Even though I didn’t receive an offer, the interview felt concrete and respectful, and it made the role feel more like a job with clear terms than an abstract academic process.
