Tesla Software Engineer interview experience

The conversation started like a normal screening, but midway through it became clear things were in flux.

During the call, I was told Tesla had paused hiring. The recruiter still said they were interested in moving me through the process once hiring restarted a few months later, so it didn’t feel like a clean “yes” or “no”—more like a hold.

I left the call expecting nothing immediate, and honestly it was a little frustrating because the momentum stopped right after the recruiter screen. There wasn’t an offer, just the possibility of being pulled back in later.
