Tesla Software Engineer interview experience

Bay AreaCandidate report, summarized by Dataford

I completed my final interview for a senior or staff software engineer role in the Bay Area with a director of software engineering at Tesla.

I was about two weeks out when I shared that status.

That gap mattered to me because I was waiting through a quiet stretch where everything slowed down after the last direct conversation. The director-level round gave the process a heavier feel, and the wait afterward made the uncertainty linger.

I didn’t have additional technical details recorded, but the lived experience in my notes was the pacing: the interview ended, then time passed without immediate closure. The main reflection from that moment was just how much the waiting period can weigh on you when you’ve already done the hardest
