I was first contacted by a recruiter about a role they thought I’d fit, and after an initial phone screen, they ended up referring me to a different role.

It didn’t completely line up with what I felt I was strong in, but I decided to continue.

After that early recruiter interaction, there were five interview rounds. I had a really good conversation with the hiring manager to start, then the process shifted into two system design interviews, one coding interview, and a work experience interview.

I didn’t get an offer, and honestly that matched my expectation since I didn’t feel like the redirected role was the best match for my background. The overall experience wasn’t hostile or chaotic; it just ended up being a fit issue for me.
