I ran into a short process where asking about compensation early and stealth uncertainty led to me not progressing, despite completing a take-home.

Online application — I applied online and discussed salary early in the process.
Take-home technical assignment — Even though I didn’t proceed further, I completed the take-home task assigned by the interviewer.
No follow-through — After that, the process stalled and I didn’t continue.

Outcome: No offer, and the takeaway is that communication around compensation and company transparency appeared to impact momentum.
