After an HR introduction, I was connected to a professor who wanted to interview me.

It took close to a month to get the formal interview scheduled, and when it finally happened it was set up like a panel.

The session was only about 30 minutes for my responses, and then I moved into answering questions from eight scientists. Each of them followed up for roughly 10–15 minutes, so the bulk of the time was really about being interrogated on details and defending my thinking. The pace felt intense even though the total interview window wasn’t very long, and it made me feel like they were evaluating both depth and communication.
