Speechify Software Engineer interview experience

No offer

Hard

Negative

New York, NYPosted Apr 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process started with behavioral questions, followed by a technical task that involved React and TypeScript.

After that, I moved into a system design round that initially felt okay, but then the conversation shifted when the interviewer stopped engaging and sort of disappeared after the second round.

The technical interview also felt mismatched in a practical way because there weren’t any software engineers on the call, so there wasn’t much opportunity to ask meaningful questions about the work as it was happening. The timebox was about an hour and a half, and the expectations for performance and solid architecture made it feel unrealistic.

I didn’t receive an offer, and what stuck with me most
