My first step was a short HR conversation, and after that I moved into an online technical interview with multiple people from the relevant domain.

The conversation was fairly formal, but it also felt a bit strange—during the technical round, I noticed the interviewers had their cameras off, and the overall atmosphere didn’t help me read what was going on.

After that, I had a separate round that leaned heavily into attitude and interaction style. In that call, the manager-style interviewer made things uncomfortable with interruptions and rhetorical jabs, repeatedly preventing me from finishing my thoughts. It felt toxic rather than constructive, and it made me lose confidence that the evaluation was about competence.

What really stuck
