SoFi·Software Engineer

SoFi Software Engineer interview experience

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I went into the SoFi process focused on doing well across the standard interview components, but it ended up hinging on one specific area.

I was asked a DP-style question, and when the problem came up I realized I hadn’t prepped enough for that kind of approach. The result was that I didn’t perform to the level I needed.

After that failure, I followed up and asked about the company’s cool-down period—basically how long I’d need to wait before I could reapply or try again. Even though I was disappointed, the follow-up gave me clarity on the timeline. My lingering takeaway was that the technical bar wasn’t just about coding in general; it was about having the right mental models ready for the exact problem types that show up.
