I was reached out by someone on their recruitment team in Europe even though I had applied for a North American role, so the timing of the initial call was awkward with the time zone difference.

The recruiter call ended up being about 30 minutes and was genuinely pleasant. There weren’t many deep questions about my background; it felt more like they were talking through the company and the role and seeing if it matched.

In the end, the main reason I was rejected was location: I was on the west coast while they were looking for someone in EST. That wasn’t mentioned in the job description, even though my location was visible on both my resume and application, so it honestly felt like a bit of a waste of time. The conversation itself was fine, but the outcome left a sour taste.
