San Mateo, CAPosted Jun 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had an at-home coding project that centered on openstreetmap data: I had to fetch it, plot it, and generate a distribution plan.

It was hands-on and concrete, and it felt like a real mini-build rather than just a theoretical exercise.

After finishing the project, I had a 1-1 interview with an engineer where I walked through the technical details. That part mattered a lot—having to explain decisions and mechanics behind what I produced, not just summarize what it did.

Overall, the process felt focused on the work itself. I didn’t get an offer, but I left feeling like the evaluation was grounded in actual engineering thinking rather than purely on abstract questions.
