I had a good first interview with the hiring manager, and she mentioned she’d follow up about next steps the following week.

I felt optimistic when I left, because the conversation went smoothly.

But after that, nothing happened. I never received the update that had been promised, even after I reached out with a follow-up email.

In the end, the process stalled out after a positive start, and I didn’t move forward from there. What stuck with me most was how abrupt the silence was compared to the expectation of a quick next-step timeline.
