My first round hit a very specific technical lane.

The interview was heavily centered on acoustics, and the hiring manager seemed to care most about how much I knew in that SEA-and-acoustics space rather than broader software concepts or adjacent topics. I wasn’t really pushed on things like vibrations.

What surprised me was how narrow the focus felt—there wasn’t much attention to anything else beyond that deep acoustics/SEA knowledge. I also didn’t get questions that dug into personal projects or side work. Overall, the difficulty felt high, and I left with the sense that the bar was narrowly defined for that opening.
