It started with an HR screening, and then I went straight into a practical code challenge.

A lot of the conversation around that stage was about the culture and the kinds of challenges they were facing, plus what they expected to work on next and what impact the role would have.

The whole setup felt pretty standard in terms of structure, but the cultural framing was surprisingly prominent compared to the purely technical focus. Even with that clarity about next steps, I didn’t end up getting an offer.
