Austin, TXPosted Aug 2015 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process kicked off with a quick phone call meant to gauge interest, and then I came in for back-to-back in-person conversations.

The recruiter portion felt easy and low-pressure, but once I met the hiring manager the pace changed—questions started feeling like they were designed to see how I handled pressure, especially around the realities of cold calling.

In the office, I was asked the typical things tied to my background and why I wanted to work at SHI, but there was also a clear expectation that I’d respond well to scenarios that tested my attitude under negative framing. One of the interviews also left me feeling like the manager was putting me on the spot, not to trick me, but to watch my reaction in real time.
