Rover.com Software Engineer interview experience

It began with a HackerRank coding challenge focused on something like string handling—just a basic weed-out style test to confirm I could code. The next step was a phone-based technical interview where I took turns implementing behavior: the recruiter would start by defining a failing test and I would implement until it passed, then roles flipped and I’d specify the test requirements while they implemented the corresponding logic. It lasted about an hour, and we still had time for questions.

After that, I hit the take-home style round that people talked about as a “Django coding project.”
