My first step was a short recruiter phone screen where it was mostly behavioral questions about my background and then updating details to pass along to the technical team.

The recruiter had no real technical context, and it felt like they were rushing to jot down notes rather than trying to understand me.

The call lasted about fifteen minutes. I didn’t make it past that stage, and the rejection happened over the phone afterward. Even so, the tone wasn’t cruel—I wasn’t treated like a number in a harsh way, but it definitely felt like there wasn’t much depth to the technical evaluation at that point.

It ended quickly, and I walked away feeling like the screening was about logistics and quick information gathering more than fit or potential.
