Raleigh, NCPosted Dec 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

Recruiter outreach kicked things off via LinkedIn, and I was drawn in by the message that my background matched what they were looking for.

After I agreed to learn more, the recruiter explained that the role was in-office with locations in San Francisco, New York, and Austin—even though I lived in North Carolina and that was clearly visible on my profile.

What threw me off was the mismatch between the geography and the way the opportunity was presented. I felt like I was being brought in for something that wasn’t actually flexible, and it didn’t make sense to interview people outside those cities if remote wasn’t an option. The experience left me feeling like I’d wasted time before the interview even really got going.
