My first big technical step involved design-style thinking, and I ran into a problem that made the round feel unproductive.

One interviewer didn’t understand the design principle I was explaining and showed very little interest in hearing the rationale behind it. It felt like they were already moving on before I could land the full point.

The process ended up being stopped early and felt like a one-and-done rejection after a single senior-level system design session. Even in that segment, the attention wasn’t on my strengths or how I would reason through tradeoffs. It felt more like the interviewer wanted me to rely on memorized, template-style solutions rather than demonstrate genuine engineering judgment.
