I expected a simple introductory call but got unexpectedly pulled into technical questions early, which shifted the balance of what I thought I was being evaluated on.

Intro call (not as expected) — I was asked technical questions right away instead of only discussing my background and the company.
Later stages (expected but not captured) — I believed the deeper security questioning would come later once I met people more embedded in the basics. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer, and my takeaway was to treat even “intro” calls as potentially technical and prepare accordingly.
