My interview started with what was essentially a bar-raiser style first round where I coded a simple UI for displaying card decks.

After that, I moved into a client round, and what they asked there depended on the specific client.

Even when the technical parts went fine, the pay discussion stood out as cumbersome, and the HR side didn’t seem ready to negotiate. That friction made the process feel less balanced than the interviews themselves.

In the end, I didn’t get an offer. I remember walking away thinking the tech discussion was manageable, but the commercial and HR follow-through was what really strained the experience.
