I got a call and a few follow-up emails saying they’d get back to me soon.

Then I waited about a month, and eventually I received a rejection.

The reason they gave was that they were looking for someone with more internship experience. Since this was an internship position, that single criterion became the whole story.

The process was straightforward, but the long wait for a clear “not this time” decision left a slightly frustrating feeling. I didn’t get the internship offer.
