My first steps were pretty normal on paper, but the timing ended up being the story.

I applied online and, after some delay, the rest of the process stretched out much longer than I expected. During the earlier COVID period, I didn’t hear back for months to continue or complete the process, so it mostly became a long wait rather than a sequence of interviews.

When I eventually got through at least one scheduling moment, the interview format still sounded fairly standard: a video conversation that mixed basic behavioral questions using a STAR-style structure with technical questions that checked familiarity with specific tools and topics like Linux, Matlab/Simulink, and C++.
