My process started with a CodeSignal OA, then I did a recruiter phone screen, two rounds of technical interviews, and a final virtual onsite that included both technical and behavioral components.

What surprised me was that the technical questions weren’t the usual LeetCode patterns.

Instead, they pushed me into API-focused work and request handling, mixed with data structures and algorithms concepts. By the time I reached the final onsite, I’d already been in that non-traditional mode, so it didn’t feel like a curveball so much as a consistent theme. Even with the effort, I ended up rejected, but the structure was memorable because it felt closer to real backend workflows than classic coding drills.
