My process had multiple stages, and it moved in a pretty structured way.

It started with a preliminary phone call with the head recruiter, then I moved to an interview with the head of the department. After that, there was a third interview with the COO, framed as an assurance step.

What stood out most was the feeling of being evaluated at progressively higher levels, not just for general communication but for alignment with the department and leadership. The timing was also consistent with that kind of process—I heard back about a week later. Overall, it felt difficult, but at least the steps were clear and deliberate.
