Principal Financial Group Software Engineer interview experience

The questions stayed basic and geared toward general software engineering understanding rather than anything advanced. I talked about my background and kept it straightforward—nothing felt like a deep technical gauntlet.

The company context also stood out: it’s a financial organization, and that made it feel like the internship side might not carry the same prestige as some other tech-focused places. I didn’t end up with an offer, but it never felt like I was fighting the interview itself—more like a low-pressure screen of my general knowledge and experience.
