In January 2022, I went through a difficult but well-run hiring sequence that included multiple calls and a lengthy personality screening.

Recruiter phone interview — I first spoke with a recruiter.
Hiring manager phone interview — I then had a second phone interview with the hiring manager.
Back-to-back panel interviews — Next, I joined two back-to-back panel interviews with engineers and managers.
Online personality/psychological screening — I also completed an online personality/psychological assessment lasting about an hour and a half. Outcome: I didn’t get an offer, and the takeaway was that the hardest part was earning the first interview, after which everything felt professional and “painless.”
