I dealt with an unusually long process that included a HackerRank plus a very time-heavy project.

HackerRank — The process began with a HackerRank assessment.
Large project (10+ hours) — After that, I completed a project estimated at over 10 hours.
Initial technical interview — Then I had a first interview with a data scientist that asked vague technical questions. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer, and the takeaway was that timelines could balloon significantly before getting clarity on fit.
